How this was measured

Streaks count consecutive UFC wins before the bout; draws and no contests leave a streak unchanged. Decided bouts since 2001 where exactly one fighter was on a streak of five or more.

Included

  • Decided UFC bouts since 2001
  • Exactly one fighter on a 5+ UFC win streak

Left out

  • Draws and no contests
  • Both fighters, or neither, on a 5+ streak (8,007)

Caveats

  • UFC bouts only.
  • Pre-fight expectations account for much of it (research: win_streak_5plus_market_adjusted).

How it was checked

  • Reproduced exactly by an independent re-implementation written from the definition alone (28 Oct 2026).
  • Survives the Benjamini–Hochberg correction across all 59 tested research hypotheses (q < 0.001).
  • Research catalog entry `win_streak_5plus` (validated).
